Rust Doctor Ambulance

A classic vehicle finds a new purpose

In the fall of 2001, the Rust Doctor team decided to fully restore a vintage vehicle using Rust Doctor products. After much debate, our team selected an antique ambulance as the vehicle that best represented our efforts at "saving" rusty metal.

We searched across the country for an unrestored ambulance that had some rust problems, but was in otherwise sound condition. As it turns out, the perfect vehicle was found in Apache Junction, Arizona. The1969 Pontiac Superior Ambulance (pictured above) had been "decommissioned" some years back, and was left to gather dust, cobwebs, and - of course - rust!

Over the next few months, we'll continue to add photographs of the ambulance restoration. You'll see a step-by-step transformation that shows how to use Rust Doctor to restore a classic beauty back to it's original condition.

Rust is a common sight on many older vehicles. Because the ambulance was used in Utah (on salted highways) body panels, undercarriage, and welded seams exhibit varying degrees of rust damage.
